Triathlon Youth Olympic Games Programme

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) today announced the programme and qualification system for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) following approval from the IOC Executive Board. One of 26 sports to be showcased in the inaugural event in Singapore next year, the triathlon competition will feature 64 of the world’s most promising juniors.

ITU Sport Development Down Under

ITU’s Sport Development team is in Sydney this week for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF), a legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. ITU was invited to send a Sport Development team for the triathlon competition. The six ITU Sport Development juniors will be among 1550 athletes from 27 countries set to participate in the AYOF.

Singaporean Nominations for ITU Asian Junior Select Camp 2009

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced that the ITU Asian Junior Select Camp (16 -23 March 2009) will be held at the Singapore Sport School in Singapore. A group of 25 athletes and coaches from emerging and developing national federations in Asia will be selected to participate under the guidance of top level international coaches.

A maximum of 2 Singaporean athletes between the ages of 16 to 19 years of age (as of 31st December 2009) will be invited to join this camp. The both athletes must be of different gender.
All nominated athletes by the Triathlon Association of Singapore (TAS) must meet the following minimum standard:
• Competed at the most recent Continental Championship event (Junior) and finished within 8% of winner’s time for boys and 10% of winners time for girls.
• Submit their times for 400m swim and 3000m run done at the stipulated TAS trial dates.
• Be of Singapore Citizenship.

• Athlete must be a member of TAS and of good standing with it.
